Fees and rebates
Patients require a valid referral from a General Practitioner to access the Medicare rebate.
Please make sure your correct bank accounted is listed on your Medicare account. Failing to ensure this will cause problems in processing of the Medicare rebate.
All fees are to be paid in full on the day of your appointment.
We are not a Bulk Billing service.
Rebates are processed electronically on the day of service to the patient’s bank account associated with their Medicare card. Normally, Medicare takes 48 hours or longer for rebate to be transferred to your account.
Please ensure you give us correct Medicare Card details.
Fee for Reports
A different fee structure applies for appointments for report-writing purposes (such as requested by courts, lawyers, and insurance companies). Please call us to discuss fee beforehand.
Support letter for Disability Support Pension (DSP) attracts $250-400. Please acknowledge that it is very unlikely we will be able to give you DSP support letter after you first meeting. The Centrelink criteria require established diagnosis, lasting impairment and exhaustion of treatment options. Meeting these criteria is often not possible following first appointment.
Medicare Safety Net
When you spend certain amounts in gap and out of pocket costs, you’ll reach the thresholds. Once you’ve reached the thresholds, you’ll start getting higher Medicare benefits. It is calculated from 1st January to 31st of December.
There are three types of threshold: Original Medicare Safety Net (OMSN) Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN), and EMSN for concessional and family tax benefit.

Cancellations
Please provide minimum 24 hours’ notice in the event you wish to cancel your appointment. By giving us notice of your cancellation, you allow another patient in need on our waiting list to have the chance of a Specialist Appointment.
Cancellation Policy
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel your appointment and you will not incur a fee (unless your appointment is on a Monday where you will need to contact the clinic by 12pm Friday to cancel your appointment without penalty).
Cancelling or not attending an appointment within 24 hours incurs a fee of $150. This cannot be claimed back through Medicare.
In the interests of fairness, these fees apply to all patients and cannot be altered by the practice manager, reception staff and Doctors.
If you miss your appointment, clinic will call you and if unable to contact, leave a message to call us back. Failing to hear from you within a week will result in discharge and you will notified of the same.
If you wish to end treatment, we at Synergy Specialist Clinic request that you discuss this with your doctor rather than simply failing to show up.
